Tour de France 2022

Rain in Copenhagen. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the tour.

Watching the race on the television in a friend’s apartment, I was able to look down on the street and the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds as the riders came flying by. Every so often, the streets would erupt with noise as a Pedersen, a Mørkøv, a Cort, a Skjelmose, or a Vingegaard made an appearance. From the 4th floor, the noise only lasted a minute until the rider was out of sight, but for the Danish riders, it must have felt endless. I imagine each of them finished their 15-minute time trials with some form of noise-induced hearing loss.
